Changing Lifestyles

Postby Redlockscot on Thu Jun 17, 2010 12:38 pm

Is anyone else changing their lifestyle?

My fiance (Michael) and I are!We have cut out red meat, processed food, fructose and opt for skim or low-fat options when shopping. If it does NOT grow from single cell in some way (even plants grow from a single cell) we do not buy it!We drink as much water as we can and even switched to decaf IF we drink coffee.

So far (in a month),I have lost 15 pounds!I also dropped my blood pressure from borderline high BP to well on the lower side of "normal".That's just from the dietary change!

Last night we bought Wii Fit,so even on rainy, too cold, too hot days we exercise.I also plan to pick up free weights again (I've missed them so). After the B.S. from chemo-fallout I have weight to lose and I am ready to do it!Is anyone else on the slim-down train as well?

You clearly have far more willpower and commitment than I do! I've tried making smaller changes to eating healthier food but it never lasts long because the bad stuff just tastes so yummy. And exercising is so tiring and it's summer and I don't want to get any hotter then I already am etc.

I do drink lots of water, don't drink coffee and have cut down a lot on Coke etc. But then I tend to eat sugary stuff to make up for it, so that's not much good...

I've been giving a lot of thought to adopting a healthier lifestyle. I work in an all natural foods store, but it isn't a health store by any means. There are just as many temptations that are sugary and all natural as there are in any other store.

I've fairly recently cut dairy out of my diet because I was noticing marked differences between the me when I drink and eat dairy and the me when I don't. That's helped, but with me it's the opposite problem as most women have. I'm not getting enough nutrition nor am I eat enough and that's preventing me from gaining healthy weight. I also have an enormous sweet tooth and have cravings like wow.

This, of course, is no excuse when it comes to my health. I've also become rather dependent on coffee. So rather than necessarily change my lifestyle for the good, working in a grocery store has become a bit of a rationalizer in eating foods I shouldn't.

At one point I was exercising quite regularly but I've since stopped. I have free weights. Yep! They're under my bed!

More power to you. I'd love to keep reading your progress. Perhaps it'll give me the motivation I need to change key things in my life and get myself healthy again.

Ooh good luck guys! My Dr has suggested a diet for me because Im struggling to lose weight after a bought of steroids for a relapse! I work out every day I do a 10min MS workout and a 20min Windsor pilates DVD and if I can I do sit ups and I have a resistance tube for my arms. I am so sick of this weight which feels worse when its not your fault like you RLS do you find that more frustrating?

I do RG.I had steroids during chemo--well along w/ chemo. The only thing that eased my stomach was carbs...all the time!I hope moving in counts as a daily workout-freakin' feels like on.I am still putting stuff where it belongs. At least I have enough room to use my Wii workout stuff-even my yoga mat has plenty of room!
