So, when I was a kid I brought the 80's to the nineties. I'm not kidding, well into the mid nineties I wore stirrup pants, oversized sweaters, and multicolor tube socks squished down into accordions on my ankles over my shoes. I was a mess.

So imagine my surprise when a decade later leggings come back into style. And, okay, I can deal with leggings under skirts and shorts. I did that...as you'd be able to tell from my traumatizing pictures in my old family photo album. But wearing leggings as pants? Something about the application of a piece of clothing as skin tight as leggings as pants not only gives me nostalgic heartburn but questions the common sense of the general population as to adequate lower body coverage!

Lets forget for a moment that wearing anything tight in your lower region is just plain unhealthy. But when you rely on such a material to provide you protection from the elements, it's time to do some introspection. It also bothers me when you can plainly see a panty-line. But, I think, it bothers me more when there is no visible panty-line!

But, I think this fashion phase is phasing out. The new phase coming through looks to be a throwback to the 50's/punk rock. Then again, I live in a state that is settled right in the middle of a whole bunch of Kudzu, so we might be a little behind everyone else. But, regardless, it just keeps on fascinating me the cycles of fashion. It's like we're constantly trying to relocate our identity in decades past. I was promised that by this time we'd be wearing metallic fabrics and sitting in hover cars. I'm a little more than disappointed.

My first and probably only statement for that matter:

I hate fashion. I don't find it interesting in any way. It keeps me from walking around in the nude which is nice. It's way to expensive though and while I admire people with good fashion taste (which I sadly don't have) I care for my own clothes solely that they fit, are payable and don't show to much skin.

If people expect me to wear "in-style" fashion *, they oughta SELL goodlooking stuff in my size first (I'm 1.78 pants rarely fit)

And btw, I HATE THE FACT that my * company where I do my intership deals with fashion brands so much. I really don't understand the big deal -.-

I excuse myself for * and leave this thread forever and ever ;)

I agree to a fault. Fashion seems a bit pointless in the long run, but I do find that I tend to feel a little better if I think my clothes represent me in a way that I enjoy being seen or that--I dunno--somehow expresses me (doesn't take much, funny t-shirt and f!tted* jeans often does it).

So while I'm certainly not a fashionista, I definitely appreciate the application of clothes and the different styles offered. Thus, I have an opinion on them. Granted, constantly having to pick out pants from the children's section has probably affected my psyche somehow, but I'm alright with that.

So I guess while fashion isn't my first and foremost mode of expression it definitely holds some sort of importance in that area, for me. And as for the spending of gratuitous amounts of money, believe me when I say that second hand stores (charity or non-charity based) are my ultimate best friends of the clothes selling world. I heart getting pants at single-digit prices.

reason for editing: because the board censored a word that, while wasn't crucial, was definitely not a "bad" word

GS,I did the stirrup/tube socks (two pairs per foot),Converse All-Star (each a different color) combo back in the day. Then I became a hair metal hippie (ever seen the band Enuff Z'Nuff, like that).Around 13 or so I began wearing nothing but band t-shirts,Doc Martens and baggy jeans. I also picked up my share of flannel shirts.I was Goth long before emo kids thought they were the first to see guys wear eye makeup-(hello,Bowie & Robert Smith).

I am NOT into fashion.I still wear my Doc's (new pairs, they didn't last me 15 years),t-shirts and jeans (I prefer flared though to even out my hips).I can't get back into the 80's like so many have been trending for a while. But if rockabilly/punk is coming back I'll be okay for a while.
I am made from the dust of the stars
and the oceans flow in my veins.
